An Extraordinary Year, An Extraordinary Journey: Celebrating Our First Anniversary

John Byrne

John Byrne

President, Dell EMC Global Channels
John Byrne

It’s been one year since Dell and EMC came together, creating the largest privately-controlled technology company on the planet. Many people questioned whether or not we’d be able to pull it off. They asked: how would we combine two portfolios, two teams, two Partner programs? They called us the Dark Horse of the Channel. Would we succeed?

Well, here we stand, winning big. Together. A $35B organization – larger than the likes of Nike, Facebook and Starbucks. $4.5B in R&D. Number 1 in just about everything, all in one place. We are far from slowing down though. We are gunning to be the number 1 Channel organization – the biggest and the best. And you know what? We’re going to get there.

Because of you.

You, our Partners, have been with us every step of the way. As we brought these Partner programs together, you went above and beyond. You acted as advisors and collaborators; critics and cheerleaders.  Your feedback is a gift. You consistently tell us what you need to be successful, and we’re listening. Because of you, the Dell EMC Partner Program is the industry’s most enviable, most innovative Partner Program.

Because of you, we will be the number 1 Channel organization.

Thank you. On today of all days, Dell EMC’s one year anniversary, thank you. It has been an extraordinary journey. Just consider our path together thus far:

September 2016:

  • Dell and EMC merge. Partners see the full potential of working with the newly combined company.

October 2016:

  • At our first ever Dell EMC Global Partner Summit, we announce our vision for the new extraordinary Dell EMC Partner Program.
  • Just 27 days after the merger closed, our supply chain shipped the company’s first integrated Dell and EMC product – ScaleIO Ready Node.

December 2016:

  • We introduce the Dell EMC Partner Program Tier Status Match Strategy, holding fast to our core tenets of Predictable. Profitable.TM

January 2017:

  • We announce our strategy to double down with Distribution Partners, and our vision for Distribution moving forward.

February 2017:

May 2017:

June 2017:

July 2017:

August 2017:

This is just the beginning. Together, we’re in a position to lead. There’s no doubt in my mind. We have the best Partner community on the planet; the most enviable Partner Program, the most innovative technology portfolio, from the edge to the core to the cloud; and the heart to win.

There can be no confusion: this Dark Horse is taking the lead.

“What’s extraordinary today… is table stakes tomorrow,” John Byrne, president of Dell EMC Global Channels, said at Global Partner Summit this past May.

That phrase has become a bit of mantra around our offices these days. And with a laser-focus on forward momentum and excellence, we find it all the more important to pause and celebrate our current success. In that vein, we are ecstatic to share some recent recognition of Dell EMC technology and programming.

Dell EMC was recently recognized as a Best-in-Class Channel Provider in CRN’s 2017 Annual Report Card (ARC) awards program, which is based on results from a comprehensive survey Solution Providers. Vendors with the highest ratings are named to this prestigious Annual Report Card list. This is 32nd year of the ARC program.

Dell EMC team accepts ARC awards.

Dell EMC was named the Overall Winner in five categories as well as one sub-category for product innovation. In addition, Dell Technologies’ VMware and RSA both were also recognized with awards. Specific details on the Dell EMC, VMware and RSA awards are below:

Dell EMC

  • Overall Winner: Enterprise Network Storage [Overall, Support, and Product Innovation Winner]
  • Overall Winner: Industry Standard Servers [Swept Category]
  • Overall Winner: Notebooks/Tablets [Swept Category]
  • Overall Winner: SMB Networking [Swept Category]
  • Overall Winner: Tablets [Overall, Support, and Partnership Winner]
  • Sub-Category Winner: Converged/Hyperconverged [Product Innovation]

VMware

  • Overall Winner: Desktop And Server Virtualization [Swept Category]

RSA

  • Overall Winner: Security Management [Overall, Product Innovation and Partnership Winner]

We humbly thank our Partners for this recognition, and for all your feedback along the way. Together, we are doing great things. You can be sure Dell EMC is not slowing down. We’ll continue innovating both our products and solutions, as well as our Channels Strategy and Partner Program, on our collective journey to extraordinary.

The wins keep coming for the Dell EMC Partner Program! Today, ChannelProNetwork announced the winners of its 2017 ChannelPro Readers’ Choice Awards. Dell EMC has been honored with seven awards, receiving top marks in servers, storage, desktop hardware and private cloud computing technology. See our full list of accolades – four Gold, two Silver and one Bronze – detailed below:

These awards are especially meaningful because winners were chosen by ChannelPro readers, who cast their votes for the vendors with the most SMB and partner-friendly products, technologies and solutions. The recently launched Dell EMC Partner Program is similarly based on partner feedback, with the focus being on delivering a simple, predictable and profitable partner program. Selecting Dell EMC as the vendor that best satisfies the unique business requirements, work styles and budgets of SMB clients, as well as those that best serve their own partner organizations, demonstrates the early success of the newly rolled out program.

In addition to the honors from ChannelPro readers, the Dell EMC Partner Program has enjoyed high marks from partners since its roll-out in February. Globally, the Dell EMC channel continues to show extraordinary market growth with total global partner revenue growth up double digits in our first quarter. Under the new program, partners can increase their profitability with the opportunity to earn 1.5X to 8X more than they did with the previous program.

We are thrilled by the early success partners are experiencing as they implement the new program and sell the portfolio. We are honored by today’s recognition from ChannelPro and look forward to continuing our investment in the partner community.

This time of year, you can’t get away from awards season—you see it on TV with the Grammys and the Oscars, and you also see it across IT with a host of industry awards that kickoff as we get into late February.

Recently, CRN announced their 2016 Channel Chiefs, an annual list that honors outstanding executive leadership across the IT landscape, focusing on those who drive the channel agenda and evangelize the importance of channel partnerships. EMC is represented by Gregg Ambulos, SVP of Channel Sales and Operations, and Jay Snyder, SVP of Global Alliances on this year’s list. In addition, Gregg Ambulos was named one of The 50 Most Influential Channel Chiefs for 2016.

Over the past year, both Gregg and Jay have truly been champions for their respective partners. Gregg has successfully introduced the new EMC Business Partner Program, which has delivered a more simple, predictable, and profitable experience to EMC’s channel partners, while Jay has moved into his new role leading our alliance organization with great enthusiasm and has redefined how EMC will work with our alliances partners moving forward.

This recognition is a great testament to the leadership that Gregg and Jay bring to their respective organizations, as well as to the Partner community. I have the privilege of working with their teams first-hand to see the impact that they are having within the industry. Please join me in congratulating Gregg and Jay on these well-deserved recognitions as they continue to work with our partners and customers across the EMC community to drive innovation and successful business outcomes.
